The 30-year US Treasury bond may be approaching a major inflection point, according to Peter Lee at UBS Wealth Management Research.
Lee says the 30-year yield is threatening to break out of its 37 year long downtrend (see Chart). A breakout from this channel along with a rise above the 2013/14 high at around 4% will confirm a major trend reversal. This, he says, would signify the end of the era of low interest rates.
